This year, Care Association volunteers organized a meaningful sacrifice event in the Yumbe region of Uganda. Yumbe is a region that was introduced to Islam during the Ottoman era and has preserved these values to this day. Therefore, the event held in these lands, which still carry the traces of the Ottoman Empire and have high historical value, was special and meaningful for our organization.
When the Care Association volunteers visited the refugee camp in Yumbe last year, one of the needs was a mosque. This need was conveyed to the Directorate of Religious Affairs, and the request was quickly met. This year, the association volunteers visited the mosque again and had the opportunity to examine the work done on-site. This visit was an unforgettable experience not only for the association volunteers, but also for the people of Yumbe.
As the Care Association, we always consider the importance and impact of such social projects on the people in the region. Therefore, we are happy to support the people of Yumbe and the refugees in the region by implementing the mosque project.
On the third day of Eid al-Adha, a festival was organized for the people of Yumbe. The meals prepared with the meat of the sacrificed animals brought the association volunteers and the people of Yumbe together at a shared table. These shared tables strengthened the feelings of unity and togetherness.
Various activities were organized for children during the festival, and hearts beat together once again. At the end of the festival, a friendly match was held with the participation of the people of Yumbe and the association volunteers. This match once again showed the unifying power of football, and the winner of the match was "brotherhood"!
As the Care Association, we thank all our donors and volunteers who were with us in this enthusiastic festival full of history and culture. The common point of everyone who was with us in this festival, where the traces of the Ottoman Empire are still seen, and where the feelings of unity and brotherhood were strengthened even more: "We shared, it became a festival!"
