Flour, Food Package Aid and Cash Assistance to Families in Elazig

Let's Remember the Elazig Earthquake

After the 6.8 magnitude earthquake at the region of Sivrice in Elazig on January 24, 2020, approximately three thousand aftershocks occurred. Lastly, we witnessed an earthquake of 3.8 magnitude in Sivrice on 7 October.

44 People Lost Their Lives, Approximately 1500 People were Injured

The earthquake lasted about 23 seconds in January, therefore  total of 44 people lost their lives, 37 of them in Elazig, 4 in Malatya and 1 in Adıyaman, Diyarbakır and Kahramanmaraş, and 1466 people were slightly and moderately injured. 45 people were rescued alive from under the debris.

Although it has been 9 months since the earthquake happened, the wounds caused by the earthquake have not been completely healed. Care Association helped families in need who were affected by the earthquake in Elazig.

Earthquake Survivors Are Not Forgotten, Food Aid to Almost 400 Families

Care Association has been completed delivering the aid goods which have started from the first days of October. We have provided the food packages to 180 families living in Aksaray Neighborhood and Yazıkonak Town and a pack of 25 kilograms flour to 200 families.

Cash Assistance for Rent Payments

Care Association also provided cash assistance to some families in the region whose financial situation is not very good. Apart from food aid, we also provided cash assistance to 10 families living in Aksaray Neighborhood and Yazıkonak Town for them to pay their rent.
