Benin, like many African countries, declared its independence in Dahomey by separated itself from France under the name of the Republic of Dahomey in 1960, which was called the Year of Africa. There are high levels of food and medical supplies shortages across Benin. Although the proportion of the population that can reach clean water sources in the country is high compared to the general African average, malaria, meningitis, typhoid and hepatitis are among the most common diseases in the country.
The literacy rate across the country is below 50%. There is no obligation to take basic education in Benin; however, education and training are not free. Free education in Benin has never been implemented throughout Benin's history.
As Care Association, we organized qurban activity for the first time this year in Benin and distributed qurban meats to approximately 3,500 Muslim families in the Djougou, Natitingou, Parakou and Nikki regions.
