Primary School Became Our Logistics Center

We are trying to heal the wounds of the earthquake by turning Mehmet Akif Ersoy Primary School in Adıyaman Yeşilyurt neighborhood into a logistics center. In order for the aid entrusted to us by our donors and volunteers not to be wasted, products such as food products, hygiene products and heating products were sorted and stored in classrooms.

Foods:

• Food products such as hot food ingredients, pulses group, pasta, tomato paste, canned food and bread are stacked together.
• Food parcels were stored to be distributed to villages by mobile vehicles.
• One of our classrooms was used to store drinking water.
• In another classroom, there are tea materials, cakes and chocolates.

Clothes:

• We laid out brand new clothes in one of the classrooms. Families come and buy the products they need from here. In addition, our diapers for families with children are listed here. Again, it is distributed to incoming families.

Heating and Fuel:

• We provide stove assistance to earthquake victims who live in tents and barracks on the streets and cannot enter their homes because their houses are damaged. We store the stoves that we have not yet distributed in our school and share them with families in need when they arrive. In one of our classrooms, an electric stove was installed and a resting area was created for the team in the field.

Paper and plastic products:

• We also stored the plastic plates and containers and paper towels we use for catering in one of our classrooms.

Other:

• We also stored shroud cloths for families who lost loved ones.

Our classrooms, where students ran and played games in the previous school term, are now used as a logistics center after the earthquakes described as the “Disaster of the Century”. Every time we look at the photos of our little ones hanging on the board in one of the classrooms, a sadness grows in our hearts. We will overcome these days together, we have full faith. Yes, we will have losses, but we will get through it together. We will heal our wounds together.
